Server issue caused wrong timer to be active

Just played lichess.org/FWVgzGb9pzcm and it appeared as my opponent was stalling in a hopelessly lost position. As the timer for his remaining time ran to zero, the page reloaded with now my time was showing zero and it showed that I lost on time... very frustrating to be honest.
I had the same surprise 1 hour ago against sweetsmoker6000. I tried to chat with my opponent but i didn't receive any response.
If this default occurs again i'll play elsewhere !

What happend is you get disconnected your browser/you didnt not realize your opponents time ticks down and hits 0 when that happens it sends a message to lichess that reconnects you to reveal the truth that you were disconnected and therefore lost on time.

How to fix is easy either refresh every 30secs during your opponents turn or click your name and see if the ping values changes if not refresh if so then you fine
Hi @for_cryingout_loud , thanks for the explanation. It still seems still like a bug - if this is a known behavior, can't the the "fix" be implemented directly into the website? So it automatically reconnects when the connection was lost, instead reloading manually...
Same trouble...got disconnected several times now without my fault...I hope the Lichess Team will finde a solution...

Lichess does do it but its not always easy to detect disconnection with different browser and connections makes it really hard to make it work for all and test it on all those devices

A way to verify that is ping liches.org -n 100
If you get more than 0 dropped packets that exsplains the dc and that could be you or the road to lichess causing it neither of whitch lichess can control

Sure, but it's not like any of us is playing and spams "ping liches.org -n 100" in the console the whole time. Also it does not ensure that the actual connection in the browser is active

Agree it is not easy, but technically very much possible ;) It also might be also cutting cost, if I think about it. Instead sending regular synchronization requests, which cause more server load and traffic, it is cheaper just to assume the connection is still alive.
Bonjour,
J'ai été déconnecté à plusieurs reprises par le serveur. Du coup, j'ai perdu la partie au temps alors que j'étais à M2 !!!.
Merci de ce que vous pouvez faire et désolé de ne pas écrire en anglais.
Thanks
