Based upon the response received to my 'Questions & Answers' post - notifications of user created tournaments are not available. <tinyurl.com/jqqqvyz>
My idea/request follows the introduction of Rocket Starts to tournament play.
After just a few days it appears as though people are paying attention and want to be present at the beginning of tournaments to be eligible for the rocket start bonus.
In the spirit of encouraging participation from the beginning and following k.i.s.s. principles (keep it simple stupid) - here is my wish:
- I want to be able to setup and receive notifications (or alerts) of new "non-scheduled" user created tournaments.
- As part of setting those up, I want to be able to filter the tournament notifications in the same way real time games are filtered on the main lichess 'play' section. (So I am only alerted to tournaments I would actually participate in.)
Since it appears most users do not participate or play all the standard or variant games of chess available on lichess - the real world application of tournament notifications would mean someone who only participates in crazyhouse, antichess, and atomic could receive a notification or an alert that JoeBob created a rated, 2+2, 90 minute, atomic tournament that will begin in ten minutes.
Now Chessli-Adams, who was somehow preoccupied with life beyond chess, can take a break, and open a tab or grab the smartphone or tablet, sign on, and participate in the atomic tournaments Chessli-Adams loves so much - with a chance for a rocket start - ear to ear smiles ensue as a barrage of 4's and maybe even berserking 5's fill up the screen.
Are alerts/notifications like this even feasible? If so... good idea or not so much?
